Hip hip hip Hurray: Bread Baking Day (#26)

engels.amer vlag We're baking for Jamie, who hosts this month Bread-event that was initiated by Zorra. She told us to bake a bread for a birthdayparty, after all "Life's a feast". And guess what... she meant hér birthday! Today she celebrates and man she'll be having a very big party with all that bread coming her way. I could make you believe that I choose this day for this entry, but I would be lying, I'm always late writing this event for some reason, but Jamie's special day speeded me up a few days.

I had to give it some thought what a festive bread would be, if I want to make it festive here with bread the kids 'demand' rolls! Rolls are a special treat, not as boring as a slice of bread. So rolls it would be. And when I found these buttery, croissant-like rolls I knew they had to become the entry for this month. I hope you like'em Jamie, we sure did. Happy Birthday to you!!

Flaky Butter Buns
Flaky Butter Buns (p.146) Unfortunately no recipe anymore. I was (kindly) asked to remove my adapted version from my blog. Dan Lepards manager is afraid it will keep people from buying his book(s). All bloggers know that seeing recipes being baked/made from what ever book, makes you more eager to buy it. Shame.

Vlag nl klein Bread baking Day (nr.26): Hieperdepiep...

Hope you don't mind me commenting, but isn't the Dan Lepard book called "The Handmade Loaf" ? He has a great website at www.danlepard.com where in the Forum you'll find lots of photos and also advice from him to bakers from around the world.

@ StoneRose, of course I don't mind you commenting, I need all the help I can get :). And you're absolutely right. I've corrected it now. THANK YOU!

Hi Lien,
I'm Dan Lepard's manager and while we're really pleased that you like this recipe, we do ask bloggers not to re-publish recipes from Dan's books or his column in The Guardian. It's simply that if the recipes are given away, people don't buy the books, and so we ask people instead to write about their experience of making something, or to post their own photos, but not to give the whole recipe. So when posts like this are brought to my attention, I always ask the blogger to delete the recipe - would you ?

Hi Lien, I'm not sure why you characterise me as "Dan Lepard's boyfriend", I'm afraid that I'm much too old to be anyone's "boy" friend and I wrote to you as Dan's manager, which is my job. I'm sure you're not using the term in an unpleasant way, but it could be misinterpreted.
We obviously have different opinions about whether bloggers giving recipes away sells books, my experience is that it doesn't, and no-one left a message here saying they'd buy the book after reading the recipe. But thank you for taking the recipe down.

My fault, I thought from your blog ( 1 apartment, 2 blokes, 1 cat or was it a dog?...) that you were together. It was by no means meant in an unpleasant way! I later saw at the Mellow Bakers you were his manager. I've adjusted the text, for I don't want anyone to feel bad about that. I apologize for this minunderstanding.
