ABC bakes summerfruit

A very summery baking challenge from the Avid Bakers this month. Apricots and plums baked in a pastry dough. Delicious! Didn't all go smoothly, my pastry had cracks when I folded it over the fruit. I thought I had them repaired but apparently not enough. The fruit was a little wet and that came all out while baking. So it was stuck to the baking sheet and of course the bottom part of the dough was a little soggy. I seem to have that a lot when baking with fruit in pie dough, normally I'd use some cornstarch or flour.

It was very delicious, though very rustic in appearance, but I was sorry that the dough broke and didn't fold around the filling easily. Great summer treat, next time with a great dollop of sweet cream :)
(Sorry pics were taken in a rush and bad lighting)

Looks like you had the same dough problems as did many others, but your final result looks delicious.

No accounting for pastry problems, but could be the weather :) Lovely tart anyway and the fruits look wonderful and yummy.

Welcome to the club of the dough crackers! But your galettes look very nice, and taste rules, anyway.

Hi Lien,

My pastry seems ok when I wrapped the fruits with it. I'm guessing your summery weather might have caused the cracks of your pastry. Nevermind about the look... taste is most important :D

I like the rustic look of your galette, and the colors of your fruit are just fantastic. Love the bright orange against the dark red!
