Spring is on its way.........

 Although it's still cold here in Holland, just a few degrees above zero in the day, I know spring is coming. Here's why:

One of our chickens has laid her first egg of this year! A lovely small and pointy egg.. well of course the first one of the year has to make way for the next eggs to come. 42 grams, they are small chickens so that's normal, though they get bigger up to 50 grams from this chicken.

We hope the other two will follow soon. I think it's a miracle everytime you stick your head around the corner of their coop and there is a little treasure laid. Wonderful cakes with an intense golden color can be made soon. Let spring begin!

 De lente komt...

Hoewel het hier nog steeds koud is, is het gelukkig wel langer licht. Sinds vandaag weet ik dat de lente er écht aankomt, want één van onze kippen legde vandaag het eerste ei van het seizoen. Een mooi smal puntig eitje van 42 gram. Deze hen "Nera" kan eitjes leggen tot 50 gram, maar de eerste moet natuurlijk even de zaak weer oprekken voor de volgende eieren en is dan wat kleiner. We hopen dat de andere twee snel het voorbeeld zullen volgen en dan kunnen we weer heerlijke intens gele cakes bakken. Ik blijf het iets fantastisch vinden als ik mijn hoofd om de hoek van het hok steek en er weer zo'n prachtig eetbaar kunstwerkje ligt! Laat de lente beginnen zou ik zo zeggen.....
