Of course I started to late baking for this month event of Bread Baking Day hosted by Gretchen of "Canela and Comino". This time it's Latin Breads, what else with Gretchens love for Peru! I didn't have (m)any recipes of breads from South America, some Mexican rolls but that was about it. So I searched the internet and found a few. I decided to make some cheese rolls from Brasil, that really looked good. It needed tapiocaflour... which I just happened to have laying around :), no wheat... no yeast... so
nothing I ever made before. I found the recipe here. To be honest.... I didn't like it at all. It was rubbery, fatty and smelled awful. But when I read the reviews about this bread, the rubberyness is supposed to be like that and lots of people love it. Then again I have no experience at all in baking gluten-free breads, so maybe it's an acquired taste. I know that if we eat something with all soymilk, which our boy is used too, we don't like and he does. So I let it all up to you. If you have more experience with glutenfree baking, you'll know if it something in your alley or not.
But because this is not a recipe I can be wild about, I just refer to the recipe if you want to bake it and not place it here (or translate it this time in dutch).
I didn't have time to try another bread, but I'm sure there will be enough choice when Gretchen makes the round up of this wonderful bread baking event!!! Maybe I should try and start a bit sooner next month...

Jammer is dat dan he? Van de moeite, de ingredienten. Wat ik me dan altijd afvraag is of het misschien wel zo hoort of dat ik iets heb gemist.

ReplyDelete@ Aranka, zonde dat ik die niet heb gezien (alleen in het engels gegoogled vrees ik), dat was vast een betere (en beproefder) recept hiervan!
ReplyDelete@ Karen, my husband ate two: I didn't make lunch and he grabbed one passing by, they looked nice. His face went üuuuhhhhh. he suggested them sliced on bread. ????? No thank you. Because all the bread was gone he ate another one in spite of it all. hehehe he's so brave!
@ Natashya, a too bad that I didn't start earlier, my first comment is a link to a dutch blog with the (tried out) recipe, which looks much better... ah well didn't want to pass BBD.
Unfortunately I have also no experiences with glutenfree flour. Anyway it's better to try and fail than to have never tried, isn't it? ;-)

ReplyDeleteToo bad you didn't like the bread. I made the Colombian version of this bread and had it with some sweet hot chocolate. Without that, it was a little bland, I thought...
ReplyDelete;) I was disappointed about the same way. Gorn liked them ... until several hours later, they where stale so fast = tough! Give me more appreciation for Gluten Free bakers, yes.
