@ Esme, Lots of typical dutch things: all kinds of cheeses of course, stroopwafels (thin wafers glued together with syrup), liquorice of all kinds, salted herring with onions, rolmops (pickled herring with gurkin inside), butterballs (candy) etc. etc.

Now, let me tell you, these sound terrible to me BUT they look absolutely fabulous!!! I really want to try these ... so badly I may have to try even in my home away from home kitchen.

Iunderstand your "thing" for bookshops. All 3 of us ( including daughter) love bookshops. We don't have good ones where we are, so everytime we travel, at least one bookshop trip is always on the agenda! LOL

Nee dat hoeft niet Will, je zet de gevulde schelpen in de schaal en daarover gaat tomatensaus. Dan de oven in en de pasta gaart in de saus. Als je de pasta eerst kookt is het bijna onmogelijk te vullen (en niet nodig dus).
